World Hypertension Day – 2024

Tagore College of Pharmacy observed World Hypertension Day on June 22nd, 2024. The event was themed “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer,” emphasizing the importance of regular blood pressure monitoring and management for a healthier life.
Welcome Address
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. K. Ilango, Principal of Tagore College of Pharmacy. Dr. Ilango highlighted the significance of World Hypertension Day and stressed the importance of awareness and prevention of hypertension. He encouraged students to actively participate in the event and spread the knowledge gained to their families and communities.
Participation
A total of 100 students and public participated in the event. The participants engaged in various activities aimed at educating them about hypertension, its risks, and the measures to control it. These activities included informative sessions on how to measure blood pressure accurately and the lifestyle changes necessary to maintain healthy blood pressure levels.
Key Activities
1. Educational Sessions: Expert talks on the causes, symptoms, and complications of hypertension. The speakers provided practical tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent and manage high blood pressure.
2. Blood Pressure Measurement Workshops: Hands-on workshops where students learned the correct techniques to measure blood pressure using sphygmomanometers and digital blood pressure monitors.
3. Interactive Discussions: Students participated in discussions and Q&A sessions, where they could clarify their doubts and learn from each other’s experiences.
4. Blood Pressure Camp: As part of the event, blood pressure camps were conducted by the students for the public. These camps were set up in our college campus. The students, under the guidance of faculty members, provided free blood pressure checks to community members, educating them on the importance of regular monitoring and how to maintain healthy blood pressure levels.
The World Hypertension Day event at Tagore College of Pharmacy was a great success, achieving its goal of raising awareness about hypertension and educating the students on how to manage and prevent it. Entire event was organized by Dr. K. Priyachitra.
By promoting the theme “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer,” the event not only informed but also empowered students to take charge of their health and contribute to the well-being of their communities.
