WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION

Tagore College of Pharmacy celebrated World Environment Day with an event held on June 12
th 2024. World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, coinciding with the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Celebrated annually on June 5, it is a global platform for raising awareness and taking action on pressing environmental issues. The event saw active participation from the B. Pharm students, faculty members. The celebration was graced by the presence of several esteemed members of the Tagore Group of Institutions Dr. K. Ilango, Principal, Tagore College of Pharmacy, HOD s from various departments.

Key Activities

Inaugural Ceremony:

The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony attended by the dignitaries, where they emphasized
the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices.

Interactive Sessions:
Interactive sessions were held to engage the audience, allowing students and faculty to discuss and share their views on environmental conservation.

Planting Drive:

A tree-planting drive was organized within the college premises, encouraging students to contribute actively to greening their surroundings.

Plastics-Free Campus Initiative:

As part of the event, the college reinforced its commitment to maintaining a plastics-free campus. Various measures were discussed and implemented to reduce plastic usage, including promoting the use of reusable materials and conducting awareness programs about the environmental impact of plastics.

Food Waste Reduction in Hostels:

The college also focused on reducing food waste in hostels. Strategies such as proper meal planning, portion control, and the establishment of a composting system for organic waste were highlighted to minimize waste and promote sustainability within the campus.
