Tagore College of Pharmacy hosted a special lecture on the “Role of Scientists in the Domain of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” on 27.05.2024 between11.00 AM-1:00PM. The event featured Dr. Umesh Banakar, Professor and President of Banakar Consulting Services, Westfield, Indiana, USA, as the keynote speaker. The event was expertly hosted by Dr. K. Priyachitra.
The program commenced with a prayer song, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr. K. Ilango, Principal of Tagore College of Pharmacy, Dr. Umesh Banakar, and other dignitaries. Dr. K. Ilango, Principal then delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to Dr. Banakar and emphasizing the significance of IPR.
Dr. K. Ilango felicitated Dr. Banakar with a Shawl& bouquet in appreciation of his contributions. Dr. D. Saravanan, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, introduced Dr. Banakar, highlighting his extensive experience and contributions.
Dr. Banakar delivered an insightful lecture on the role of scientists in IPR, discussing the importance of protecting scientific innovations and providing practical guidance on navigating the complexities of IPR. The lecture was followed by an engaging Q&A session where participants had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Banakar. Total of 105 Students has participated.
Dr. S. Mohideen, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Dr. Banakar and all attendees. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
The event was a resounding success, and Tagore College of Pharmacy looks forward to organizing more such enlightening sessions in the future.
