Tagore College of Pharmacy celebrated Jambu Dweep Prakadanam with a series of engaging activities on June 13th, 2024. The event was designed to foster environmental awareness and cultural appreciation among students, featuring competitions like Elocution and Essay writing. The celebration was graced by the presence of several esteemed members of the Tagore Group of Institutions Dr. K. Ilango, Principal, Tagore College of Pharmacy and HODs of various Departments.
History of Jambu Dweep Prakadanam
Jambu Dweep Prakadanam is a celebration that derives its inspiration from the ancient texts and scriptures of India, where Jambu Dweep is often described as one of the seven continents or islands of the ancient world. The Marudhu Brothers, Periya Marudhu and Chinna Marudhu, were legendary freedom fighters from the Sivagangai region of Tamil Nadu. Key Activities
The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony attended by Dr.K.Priyachitra delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of preserving the environment and cultural heritage.
Elocution Competition:
The elocution competition saw enthusiastic participation from B.Pharm students. The participants eloquently spoke on various topics related to environmental conservation and the cultural significance of Jambu Dweep on the theme “Ore Bharatham Unnatha Bharatham” Their speeches highlighted innovative ideas and practical solutions for current environmental issues, Freedom Fighters.
Essay Writing Competition: The essay writing competition provided a platform for students to express their thoughts and ideas in a structured manner. The essays covered a range of topics, including the importance of biodiversity, sustainable practices, and the historical and cultural aspects of Jambu Dweep.
The Jambu Dweep Prakadanam celebration at Tagore College of Pharmacy was a significant event that successfully combined environmental education with cultural appreciation.
